Field Notes From The Marge: May 2026

Hi friends,

May felt a little heavier than the last few months — not necessarily in a bad way, just in

a “life is very real right now” kind of way.

There was still movement. Still community. Still good moments mixed in with the chaos.

Here’s the May edition of Field Notes.

Field Notes: Work Shenanigans

(Real Estate, Community & Continuing Forward)

May included a little bit of everything on the real estate side.

I wrapped up a closing in Rockford this month — quietly, and without social media fanfare because my clients prefer to stay private. Honestly, I respect that. Not every part of this business needs to be public to matter.

2823 Ridgeway stayed active this month, which means continuing to market it, continuing conversations, and continuing to remind people that sometimes the right buyer just takes time. Real estate isn’t always instant gratification — sometimes it’s consistency, creativity, and staying visible until the right connection happens.

I also made it to a Women’s Council of REALTORS® event this month, which was a nice chance to reconnect with people outside the normal day-to-day workflow. One of the things I genuinely appreciate about this industry is how many different ways there are to build community if you’re willing to show up for it.

The work itself keeps moving — conversations, planning, follow-ups, contracts, problem solving. The quiet work most people never really see.

Also did a quick stint of pet sitting :)

Field Notes: Marge Shenanigans

(People, Places & Everything Else)

Outside of work, May had a lot of people-time in it.

There was a bachelorette party, which meant laughs, chaos, and the kind of memories that end up becoming stories later.

I also made it out to the Janesville Renaissance Faire with a great group of people for Bowen Year Of Shenanigans Vol. 2.

Dad had a great time and the freedom to roam with the scooter we rented. The costumes, ren faire energy and awesome shiny stuff made it a day to remember!

And then there was the trip to Phoenix with my dad.

That trip ended up being one of the bigger emotional anchors of the month. Time with family hits differently when life reminds you that none of us really know how much time we get with the people we care about. I’m really glad we went.

Some months are productive. Some months are reflective. May managed to be both.

Looking Ahead

June already looks busy — more movement, more projects, more conversations, and probably a little more chaos too.

But May was a reminder that progress doesn’t always look flashy. Sometimes it’s just continuing to show up

for work, for family, for friends, and for yourself.

If you’re thinking about buying, selling, land, small towns, or just want to talk something through without pressure, you know where to find me.

Thanks for being here.
